I love it when my underground music blows up into the mainstream and enjoys some well deserved success - and here is a great example of just that that.
Shy FX and T Power are both legendary in their own rights as producers on the Drum & Bass scene, but together they were spectacular! They dropped classics such as this track and later, Feelings, which is to follow. They put out two fantastic albums and served up a bunch of wicked cuts for the raving crew.
Featuring the fabulous vocals of the hugely talented Dianne Joseph (Truce, Venus Tribe), and a nice latin inspired groove, they knocked this one out of the park.

I always lean more into the full length versions rather than radio edits, so I'd say jump right into the Original Mix.
However, if you're not feeling Drum & Bass, there is a UK Garage mix courtesy of Sunship (AKA Ceri Evans from The Brand New Heavies), and, even better, The DJ Dodge produced Venus Tribe Mix (Di also supplied the sublime vocals for the Venus Tribe project), bringing you some tasty R&B vibes.

Thankyou for this blast from the past 😎
ReplyDeleteJust sharing good quality music of yesteryear if that's OK Kym?
This track and its release era circa early 2000's reminds me of the group Un-cut. Un-Cut were a very underrated (IMO!) group from Manchester, composed of production duo Future Cut and vocalist Jenna Gibbons (Jenna G).
Midnight is the stand out track (remixed in 2002 by the late, great Marcus Intalex RIP) but obsession Pt.2 deserves to be up there for a mention.... Strong soulicious album, Enjoy.

This is the 2002 Shy FX & T Power album Shake Ur Body was lifted from🎶
ReplyDeleteAgain another genre boundary defying masterpiece 👏
The last track "Everything" still to this very day gets heavy rotation in my car😎

Enjoy, people. I slightly prefer Diary Of A Digital Soundboy, but it's still a wicked album. :)
DeleteYeah, I got the Uncalculated Some back in 2002. That Marcus Intalex remix of Midnight (his first one, not his second) is a perfect record, and is right up there with his MJ Cole Sincere remix.
ReplyDeleteObsession Pt 2 with its slowed down Funky Drummer beat and dreamy feel is everything I like in a song. Seriously wicked. :)
Please do share whatever you want. I have LOADS of D&B I can post up but I'm not sure Soul Vendor is the right place. Maybe I should get The Beat Vault up and running again. :)
💯Totally agree, this is not really the right platform for the DnB stuff but these albums are a very soulful crossover for the soulcrew 😁
DeleteBTW I have to disagree the intalex VIP is well betterer than the first mix all day, every day💪👊🤣
His MJ Cole Sincere remix though.... Amazing🤩
I do try and sneak a few Hip Hop and D&B gems in among the soul & R&B. Absolutely agreed on those albums having the right blend for this place.
DeleteSincere is about as good a remix as I've heard. Perfection!
Other tracks by him that I adore are Love & Hapiness/Universe/How You Make Me Feel/Solid State - Just A Vision (Marcus Intalex & ST Files Remix). Even his less soulful more techie is hella good.
RIP to a national treasure xx
PS - As much as I respect you, Manik, you're so wrong about the Midnight remix! :p
Keep it soulful. 😎
ReplyDeleteBTW, I agree Kymba, straight into the original mix. 😎
